About BRICS 2OCNMD

In April 2025 the Laboratory of 2D Optoelectronics and Nanoelectronics (L2DON) led by Prof. Yury Illarionov, the Nanofabrication Lab led by Prof. Xing Cheng, the Ultrafast Nano-Spectroscopy Lab led by Prof. Jinhui Zhong jointly with Bauman Moscow State Technical University will organize the 2nd Open BRICS+ Conference on Novel Materials and Devices (BRICS + 2OCNMD) in Shenzhen, China. We will invite top-level speakers which have emerging results in various areas related to novel materials and devices, which are not limited to:

Electrical, optical and mechanical properties of 2D materials (graphene, TMDs, black phosphorus, etc)
Emerging devices based on 2D materials, thin film semiconductors, etc
Advanced modeling of material properties, including prediction of new materials
Advanced TCAD modeling of semiconductor devices
Smart materials for health care and environmental applications
Integrated circuits and emerging methods of integration
Materials and devices for quantum technologies, quantum algorithms and computing

The conference will include oral plenary/invited talks by distinguished speakers and poster presentations by students, as well as round table discussions about future of BRICS+ research collaboration and funding programs.

Organizers
Laboratory of 2D Optoelectronics and Nanoelectronics (L2DON)

Laboratory of 2D Optoelectronics and Nanoelectronics (L2DON ) (Website: https://www.l2don.com/) is led by Prof. Yury Illarionov and belongs to the Department of Materials Science and Engineering of the Southern University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen, China. Our research is centered around devices based on 2D materials, mainly field-effect transistors and photodetectors. While our laboratory is new, recently we have got all facilities for device nanofabrication and electrical characterization and started the first experiments. At the moment we are mostly focused on modeling of the reliability of field-effect transistors with 2D channels using advanced TCAD tools and compact models.

The Nanofabrication Lab

The Nanofabrication Lab at Southern University of Science and Technology (Shenzhen, China) led by Prof. Xing Cheng (Website: www.sustech.edu.cn/zh/faculties/xing-cheng) is interested in several basic and applied areas of micro- and nanofabrication: 1) high-resolution lithographic techniques, particularly nanoimprint, and 3D micro- and nanofabrication techniques; 2) MEMS sensors and actuators, particularly bioMEMS devices; and 3) integrated macroelectronic systems.

The Ultrafast Nano-Spectroscopy Lab

The Ultrafast Nano-Spectroscopy Lab (Website: https://www.ultrafast-zhonglab.com/) at Southern University of Science and Technology (Shenzhen, China) led by Prof. Jinhui Zhong is interested in ultrafast nano-spectroscopy, including ultrafast femtosecond spectroscopy and near-field nanometer spatial resolution spectroscopy. The research focus is to explore and understand optical and electronic properties of functional materials for optoelectronic and photocatalytic applications. The research focus is on plasmonic nanostructures and their coupling with molecules and semiconductors and the relevant charge and energy transfer processes and their dynamics.

Laboratory of 2D materials growth and electronic devices

Laboratory of 2D materials growth and electronic devices (https://faculty.csu.edu.cn/zhouyucsu/zh_CN/index.htm)is led by Prof. Yu Zhou, which belongs to the school of physics of Central South University and State Key Laboratory of Powder metallurgy. Our research focus on the controlled growth of two-dimensional high-k dielectrics, high mobility ferroelectric semiconductors and its application for electronic devices such as field effect transistors, and information memory devices, photodetectors.
